Throughout this year, the VCCC Alliance has been working to refresh its strategy and prepare to build a new business case as we continue our efforts to overcome cancer together.
As an alliance organisation built on principles of collaboration for impact, consultation with our stakeholders has been critical to this process. Throughout July and August 2023, we consulted with 10 Alliance members and four regional cancer centres with collaborative agreements in place.
These consultations included focus groups, interviews and written submissions with VCCC Alliance governance, leadership, distributed leaders and consumers. We ran four virtual and three in-person consultations with 32 community members and consumers and 112 participants overall.
As a result of these consultations, we received 50 high-quality project proposals, totalling an estimated value of $90.5 million. The proposals are currently under review by an expert panel to decide which to include in the new business case.
"The proposals submitted were of exceptional quality, highlighting many new challenges and opportunities for us to continue building on Victoria's world-leading cancer outcomes," said Lisa Somerville, Head of Quality and Strategic Initiatives at VCCC Alliance.
"We had a fantastic response from a diverse range of stakeholders, which really shows the power of collaboration in the fight against cancer."
We would like to thank everyone who participated in our member consultation sessions and all those who contributed to project proposals, for your interest and passion for improving patient outcomes through collaboration.
We’ll be providing feedback to everyone who submitted proposals in the near future and provide updates on progress toward our business case. If you’d like to know more about this project in the meantime, get in touch at [email protected].
