VCCC Alliance has oriented eight new clinical trial interns as part of its SKILLED Clinical Trial Internship program.

VCCC Alliance has oriented eight new clinical trial interns as part of its SKILLED Clinical Trial Internship program.

The Clinical Trial Administrative Officer interns undertake training at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre in collaboration with Parkville Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (PCCTU) and Australian Clinical Trials Education Centre (A-CTEC), then complete placements at participating clinical trial units.

Five interns were placed at metropolitan sites, three interns were placed at regional sites and one Clinical Trial Assistant employee attended the orientation sessions from South West Healthcare.

The SKILLED Clinical Trial Internship program is a pathway for science graduates into the clinical trials sector. Launched in 2019 by the VCCC Alliance, the program addresses critical needs identified in the sector to increase clinical trial activity through workforce capacity building and improving patients’ access to trials, especially in rural and regional areas.

The program is funded by the Victorian Government through the Victorian Department of Health.
